What We Do

Fitness For
Every Body

Bloom is an adaptive, goal-driven fitness program designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — built on courage, community, and heart.

The Problem We're Facing

Adults with IDD are left out of fitness.

Most fitness programs aren't designed for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Gyms are intimidating. Classes move too fast. Instructors aren't trained for adaptive needs.

The result? Adults with IDD are significantly more likely to be sedentary, face chronic health issues, and feel isolated from their communities. Bloom exists to change that — one class at a time.

🪑 7 in 10 adults with IDD are sedentary

Physical inactivity rates are nearly double the general population, leading to preventable chronic conditions and shorter lifespans.

🏋🏻‍♀️ Traditional gyms aren't built for them

Without adaptive instruction and a welcoming environment, fitness participation remains out of reach for the vast majority of the IDD community.

🚪 Social isolation makes it worse

Isolation compounds physical health challenges. Bloom addresses both — building real community alongside real fitness habits.

Our Story

7 bikes and
a dream.

In 2016, Bloom started in Rosenberg, Texas — seven stationary bikes, one partner organization, and one big belief: that every adult with an intellectual or developmental disability deserves the chance to be an athlete.

Today, Bloom operates at 53 locations across 7 states, with an average of 44 athletes at each one. The bikes multiplied. The dream grew into a movement.

By The Numbers

The impact is real.

$2
Cost per athlete interaction after year one — making Bloom one of the most cost-effective fitness programs in the country.
30
Minutes per class. Short enough to fit any schedule. Long enough to change a life.
6
Adaptive class formats, each designed to meet athletes at their fitness level and ability.
53
Partner locations across 7 states, with more launching every quarter.

"

Bloom helps me because I used to feel sluggish and out of shape, and now I feel more active and more energized — it actually helped my mood too. I feel more happy and outgoing.

I enjoy being in the Bloom classes because I love doing the exercises and helping other people. If they need help with something, I am always there.

Thanks again for bringing Bloom to T&L. Philip and his friends love it and always look forward to it. It seems to have helped Philip’s mobility and he seems happier.
